Permanent Hair Removal At Home
The idea of being able to permanently remove unwanted hair at home is an enticing one and in recent years there have been a host of different devices offering just that.
Until recently these mainly consisted of small machines that worked using forms of electrolysis i.e. passing an electric current through the hair and killing the root. Some of them work using sticky pads designed to treat several hairs at once. Others use needles or tweezers. The success rates of these devices tend to range from the poor to the 'it works' but will take forever to remove all your unwanted body hair.
The electrolysis units that use a needle are the most useful but can only really be used on small areas. However if used properly they are good for permanent facial hair removal.
Now home IPL machines have come onto the market that use strong pulses of light to kill unwanted hair roots. These have been come very popular because they do work. However they don't really claim to achieve permanent hair removal only that they will reduce unwanted hair growth.
So by using one of these units you can expect to see the number of hairs growing to be greatly reduced and the hairs that still grows to be weaker. Most people seem to be more than satisfied with the results. Like the salon versions you'll still need to use them for several weeks before you begin to see the difference.
Unfortunately they aren't for everyone. They work best on fair skin with dark hairs. The darker the skin, or the lighter hair, the less satisfactory the results will be. Because the devices are expensive you must check that your skin colouring is suitable before buying one. Remember getting a tan will also reduce an IPL device's ability to kill the hair root.
Another thing to remember is that although you'll have the convenience of being able to use your hair removal device whenever you like you'll probably need to use it on some fairly awkward places. Doing the backs of your legs, especially the thighs, can be problematic for those who aren't particularly supple.
The more recent home hair removal machines have made a real difference to those who have either struggled with all types of hair removal products or have had to face hefty salon bills to remove their unsightly hair. Now it is possible to vastly reduce the amount of body hair you have safely and at home.
